Oh Christmas Tree

By

Are you Team real tree or Team fake? I am team fake, but only when they look real. Also must be prelit. Can you guys tell I’m a bit particular? I’ve accumulated this gorgeous tree with matching ornaments and a theme and I truly just love to stare at it. But, it’s so not kid friendly and I do want to have a funky family tree…. as much as it pains my obsessive must match requirements. I caved. Target had all of their trees marked down and I found a 6 ft tree for 13$.

So new tradition here we come. Each year we’ll add a new ornament for something that was special to each kiddo or family member. One day we can look back and remember that in 2016 Palmer was infatuated with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and that he made me the most hideously beautiful pink glitter ornament with a picture of himself in it. This tree is truly me learning to go with the flow as a mom of two and embrace the crazy chaos that is our new normal. I’m actually enjoying it – it’s kind of freeing!

But back to our tree discussion! Yesterday we did a fun edible tree craft with my sister and niece and nephew. It was really easy and cheap. So regardless of where you fall on team real or fake tree we can all agree that this tree will be a family favorite.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Flip cone so that it is upside down and sits flat with point in air.
  2. Squirt icing along cone to cover all of the surface. This would be a fun step for an older child to do alone but our little ones couldn’t quite figure out how to do it. So, we squirted and they spread it out.
  3. Decorate.
  4. Eat eat eat.
  5. Beware – the sugar high is headed your way!

Again, super super easy but fun for all ages!

Can’t wait to hear about whether you are team real or fake tree !!!

Xoxo,

Erin
